Chapter 4 - The Confrontation in the Glass Room-4

Julian rushed toward me, his fists clenched, his eyes blazing with fury. "You crazy bitch! You think you can steal my life's work while I'm away?! Undo this right now!"

Before he could reach me, two tall, uniformed security guards stepped into his path, grabbing his arms and holding him firmly in place.

"Get your hands off me!" Julian screamed, struggling against the guards. "I am the CEO of this company! I own this building!"

"You don't own anything anymore, Julian," I said calmly, standing up from my seat. I walked slowly around the mahogany table until I was standing just a few feet away from him.

Up close, he looked pathetic. The arrogant, untouchable tycoon who had dismissed my desperate calls while enjoying the tropical sun was now shivering with rage and panic.

"You left your mother to die alone," I said, my voice echoing in the silent room. "You ignored thirty calls. You spent $3,500 on a resort charge at the exact minute her heart stopped beating."

"I was working!" Julian lied desperately, his voice cracking. "I was in an important meeting!"

"With Chloe?" I asked, pulling out a printout of his resort bill and tossing it at his chest. "At the Grand Wailea pool bar? Is that where you hold your corporate negotiations?"

The room gasped. Audrey looked away in disgust, unable to defend her brother any longer.

"Clarissa... please," Julian’s tone suddenly shifted from anger to frantic desperation. He realized he was surrounded by enemies, his family silent, his board members staring at him like a liability. "We can talk about this! We're married! We’ve been together for fifteen years! Whatever Evelyn told you... she was old! She was confused!"

"Evelyn was sharper than you could ever hope to be," I replied coldly. "And she was perfectly clear when she gave me the key to her safe."

Julian’s eyes widened in terror as the mention of the silver key hit him. "The... the safe?"

"Yes, Julian. I saw the toxicological reports. I know about the thallium. I know you were poisoning her."

A heavy, suffocating silence fell over the room. The board members stared at Julian in absolute horror. Even his defense attorney took a step back, separating himself from his client.

"That's a lie!" Julian shrieked, sweat pouring down his forehead. "She's making it up! She manipulated my mother!"

"The State Prosecutor doesn't think it's a lie," my attorney, Arthur, interjected smoothly. "A formal exhumation order isn't necessary because Mrs. Vance had a comprehensive forensic hair and blood panel completed at Chicago Memorial Hospital forty-eight hours before her passing. The thallium levels are fully documented and signed by three board-certified pathologists."

Julian stumbled back, his knees giving way beneath him. If the guards hadn't been holding him, he would have collapsed onto the carpet.

"You're done, Julian," I said, stepping closer to him so only he could hear my final words. "You took everything from me—my youth, my dignity, my devotion. You treated me like dirt while I took care of your dying mother. But today, Evelyn took everything back from you. And she gave it to me."

I turned to the head of security. "Escort Mr. Vance off the premises. If he steps foot on any Vance Global property again, have him arrested for trespassing."

"Clarissa! NO! CLARISSA, PLEASE!" Julian screamed as the guards dragged him backward out of the glass conference room. His desperate cries echoed down the marble hallway until the elevator doors slid shut, cutting him off completely.

I turned back to the remaining board members, who were sitting in rigid silence.

"Now," I said, pulling out a pen. "Let's discuss the future of this company."
