Chapter 13: The Girls’ Request
A week later, Sofia and Martina came to Emiliano’s study together.
“Papa,” Sofia said seriously, “we want to ask you something.”
Martina nodded, holding her rabbit tightly.
Emiliano put down his pen. “What is it?”
“Can Rosa stay with us forever?” Sofia asked. “Not as the maid. As… our new mom. If she wants.”
Emiliano felt his chest tighten.
He had been thinking the same thing for weeks.
He pulled both girls into his arms.
“I’ll ask her,” he said. “But only if both of you are sure.”
“We’re sure,” Sofia said.
