Chapter 2 - The Nursery Siege-2

The massive iron gates of the Warren estate sat wide open, swaying gently in the rain. Tire tracks had torn deep ruts into the manicured green lawn near the front entrance.
Spencer slammed the SUV to a halt on the gravel driveway, leaving the engine running.
"Pamela, stay in the car with Charlee and lock the doors," Spencer ordered sternly.
"I'm coming with you!" Charlee cried from the back seat, clutching her blue bear. "I promised Dexter I wouldn't leave him!"
Spencer looked into the little girl's fierce, terrified eyes. He reached back, squeezed her small hand, and gave a sharp nod. "Alright. But you stay right behind me. No matter what happens, you don't step away from my side."
They surged through the heavy oak front doors of the mansion. The grand marble foyer, usually silent and pristine, was filled with the harsh sound of shouting coming from the second-floor landing.
"Step aside, Mabel!" Julian Warren’s sharp, arrogant voice boomed through the hallway. "You're a hired housekeeper! You have zero legal authority over an abandoned orphan! I am Spencer’s brother, and as vice chairman of Warren Global, I am taking this child to our corporate clinic to verify his medical status!"
"Over my dead body, Mr. Julian!" Mrs. Mabel’s voice rang out fiercely. "This baby was left in Mr. Spencer’s care, and I won't let your thugs lay a finger on him!"
Spencer took the stairs three at a time, with Charlee sprinting right behind him.
When he reached the top of the landing, he saw his half-brother, Julian, dressed in a tailored Italian suit, gesturing angrily toward two broad-shouldered security guards who were trying to push past Mrs. Mabel. The elderly housekeeper was standing firmly in front of the nursery door, holding a heavy silver candlestick like a weapon.
"LIFT A HAND AGAINST HER AND I'LL KILL YOU WHERE YOU STAND!" Spencer roared, his voice booming through the corridor like thunder.
The two security guards stopped instantly, freezing in place. Julian turned around, his handsome face twisting into a tight, insincere smile as he straightened his silk tie.
"Spencer! Thank God you're back," Julian said smoothly, stepping forward with his hands raised in mock peace. "Mabel has completely lost her mind. I heard a rumor that some street urchin dumped a random baby on our doorstep. I came as fast as I could to protect the family from a public relations nightmare and extortion."
Spencer stepped between Julian and the nursery door, towering over his younger brother. "The baby isn't a random orphan, Julian. He's my son. My biological son."
Julian’s eyes narrowed slightly, a flash of pure venom flickering across his features before he forced a soft, quiet laugh. "Spencer, don't be ridiculous. You've been sterile for twelve years after your experimental treatment. You know that. The whole board knows that. Someone is playing a sick prank on you to get a piece of the Warren estate."
"Dr. Pamela Ortiz is sitting in my car downstairs, Julian," Spencer said coldly, watching his brother’s reaction like a hawk. "She just confessed that my frozen genetic samples were accessed twelve months ago using a security password from Warren Global Headquarters."

Julian’s polite smile vanished completely. The color drained from his lips, leaving his face pale and sharp under the hallway lights.
"Who accessed those servers, Julian?" Spencer asked, taking a slow step toward his brother. "Because if anyone tried to harm my son, I won't just fire them. I will destroy them."
