Chapter 13 - The Rebuilt Trust-13

One year later.

The sun shone brightly over the lush, manicured gardens of the Rosewood Estate.

A large white marquee tent had been set up on the green lawn, decorated with white roses, twinkling fairy lights, and colorful balloons.

It was baby Dexter’s first birthday party, combined with the official launch celebration of the Florence & Evelyn Foundation.

Over two hundred guests attended—local community leaders, doctors from St. Jude’s Hospital, children from regional shelters, and executives from Warren Global Enterprise.

Florence sat in a comfortable garden wheelchair under the shade of a white umbrella, looking healthy, vibrant, and surrounded by laughing children.

Jocelyn walked across the grass, wearing a stunning green summer dress, carrying one-year-old Dexter, who was wearing a tiny bow tie and laughing hysterically as he tried to grab a floating balloon.

Spencer walked over, putting his arm around Jocelyn’s waist and kissing her gently on the cheek.

Over the past year, their shared trauma had transformed into a deep, beautiful love. They had built a home filled with laughter, trust, and unwavering devotion.

"Look at him," Jocelyn smiled, leaning her head against Spencer’s shoulder. "He's getting so fast. Yesterday he took four steps all by himself!"

"He gets his determination from his mother," Spencer smiled warmly, kissing her hair.

Suddenly, eight-year-old Charlee came running across the lawn, wearing a bright yellow sundress, holding a giant slice of chocolate birthday cake.

"Daddy! Look!" Charlee shouted excitedly, pointing toward the estate entrance. "The children from the shelter just arrived!"

"Let's go welcome them, sweetheart," Spencer said, holding out his hand.

Charlee grabbed her father’s hand, holding tight as they walked together across the sunlit grass toward the entrance, their laughter filling the clear blue sky.
