Chapter 14 - The Unbroken Bond-14

As evening fell over the Rosewood Estate, the guests gradually departed, leaving behind a peaceful, quiet twilight.
Spencer sat on the wide stone porch steps, nursing a warm cup of coffee, watching the golden sunset paint the horizon in shades of orange, purple, and rose.
Jocelyn walked out, setting a warm blanket over his shoulders, before sitting down beside him. Inside the house, Florence was reading a bedtime story to Charlee and Dexter in the cozy living room by the fireplace.
"What are you thinking about, Spencer?" Jocelyn asked softly, resting her chin on his shoulder.
Spencer looked out over the vast, beautiful gardens, feeling a profound sense of peace settle over his heart.
"I was thinking about the day I opened my front door in the rain," Spencer whispered. "I was a cold, arrogant man living in a dark mansion, convinced I had no purpose left in life."
He pulled Jocelyn closer, wrapping his arm around her.
"And then a little girl standing in the drizzle, holding a black trash bag, showed up on my doorstep and changed my world forever."
Jocelyn smiled, kissing his cheek gently. "Charlee didn't just save Dexter that day, Spencer. She saved all of us."
"Yes," Spencer agreed softly, tears of gratitude welling up in his eyes. "She taught me that family isn't defined by money, corporate titles, or bloodlines. Family is built by love, sacrifice, and the courage to protect the innocent."
From inside the living room, the soft sound of Charlee’s bright laughter echoed through the open porch door, followed by Dexter’s happy babbling.
