Chapter 3 - The Arrival at Vizcaya-3

The oceanfront Vizcaya Museum in Miami was transformed into a glowing palace of light and excess for the Atlantic Legacy Gala. High-powered searchlights cut through the tropical night sky, throwing brilliant beams across Biscayne Bay. Red carpets stretched from the grand limestone archways down to the VIP arrival docks, flanked by hundreds of journalists, photographers, and television crews from around the globe.
A sleek black sports car roared up the main driveway, stopping directly in front of the primary flashbulb barrage.
The valet opened the door, and Grant Holloway stepped out. He adjusted his tailored tuxedo jacket, smiling radiantly for the flashing cameras. He turned and extended his hand to Delaney Cross, who emerged in her fitted burgundy gown, her diamonds catching the light as she draped herself over Grant’s arm with practiced elegance.
"Mr. Holloway! Over here!" a reporter from the Miami Business Journal shouted, pushing a microphone toward him. "Is it true that Holloway Meridian Group is finalizing a fifty-million-dollar expansion deal with Bellamy Holdings tonight?"
Grant beamed, puffing his chest out as he pulled Delaney closer for the camera lenses. "We are in final negotiations with the Chairwoman’s executive team as we speak," Grant announced smoothly, his voice projecting total confidence. "Bellamy Holdings recognizes true visionary leadership. Holloway Meridian is preparing to dominate the South Florida market, and tonight marks the beginning of a new era for my firm."
"And who is the lovely lady beside you tonight, Mr. Holloway?" another reporter asked. "Is this Mrs. Holloway?"
Delaney let out a delicate, musical laugh, resting her hand against Grant’s lapel. Grant’s smile stiffened slightly before he smoothed it over with a dismissive wave.
"This is Delaney Cross, my Director of Corporate Relations and my primary strategist," Grant said effortlessly. "My wife prefers a very quiet, domestic lifestyle. She doesn't really belong in environments like this."
Behind them in a secondary luxury sedan, Mavis and Brielle Holloway stepped onto the carpet, draped in rented furs and expensive jewelry purchased with Grant’s corporate credit lines.
"Did you hear him?" Mavis whispered to Brielle with a smirk as they walked up the grand stone steps behind Grant and Delaney. "He handled that perfectly. If he brought that boring girl Seraphina, the press would think he married a librarian. Delaney looks like money."
"Seraphina is probably still in her apron scrubbing the kitchen tiles," Brielle snickered, adjusting her diamond necklace. "Honestly, Grant should have divorced her years ago. She contributes nothing to this family."
Inside the grand glass atrium of the museum, over five hundred of the country’s most influential figures were gathered. Banking tycoons, state senators, international hotel magnates, and venture capitalists mingled under massive crystal chandeliers, sipping vintage champagne.
Yet, despite the grandeur, everyone was waiting for one specific person.
The Chairwoman of Bellamy Holdings had never appeared at a public event in Florida. For years, she had governed her global empire through a private board of trustees, remaining an enigmatic figure whose rare corporate decisions could shift stock markets overnight. Tonight's program announced that she would be making her first public appearance to award the annual Atlantic Legacy Infrastructure Grant—a two-hundred-million-dollar capital injection that Grant Holloway was desperately counting on to cover his massive, hidden corporate debts.
Grant led Delaney to a front-row VIP table directly beneath the main podium, signaling a waiter for two glasses of Dom Pérignon.
"To us, Grant," Delaney whispered, her eyes shining with greed as she clinked her glass against his. "To the empire we are building together."
"To us," Grant smiled, taking a slow sip. "By tomorrow morning, Holloway Meridian will be untouchable."

Suddenly, the ambient music inside the glass atrium faded into silence. The heavy brass doors at the top of the grand marble staircase swung open, and the master of ceremonies stepped to the microphone, his voice echoing across the breathless room.
"Ladies and gentlemen, distinguished guests... please welcome the Chairwoman and Chief Executive Officer of Bellamy Holdings."
