Chapter 12 - A New Dawn for the Estate

12 - 15
Three days after the collapse of the Moretti dynasty, the Duca estate was bathed in the warm, golden sunlight of a perfect autumn afternoon. The shadow of war, betrayal, and corporate conspiracy had finally lifted completely, leaving the powerful syndicate standing stronger and more unified than ever before.
Inside the grand kitchen, the morning routine was a picture of domestic harmony.
Alessandro Duca sat at the white marble island, sipping his espresso without a single trace of hesitation or doubt. The coffee was rich, dark, and perfectly brewed.
Standing beside him on her wooden step stool was four-year-old Emma, wearing her tiny chef’s apron and holding Mr. Hopper tightly in her left arm, while her right hand clutched a freshly baked honey biscuit.
"Is the coffee still good today, Mr. Duca?" Emma asked, looking up with her big, bright, curious eyes.
Alessandro smiled, reaching over to gently tap the tip of her nose with his finger. "It is the best coffee in the entire city, little one. Because I know I have the best watchdog in the world keeping guard."
Emma giggled, taking a proud bite of her biscuit.
Sophia Alvarez stood near the pantry doorway, watching them with a radiant smile of profound gratitude and peace. The pain of the past had been healed by the kindness of a man the world feared, and her daughter’s innocent words had rewritten the destiny of an entire empire.
Later that afternoon, Alessandro walked out into the manicured sculpture gardens. Marco approached him with a final dossier containing the legal transfer documents for all former Moretti assets.
"Everything is signed and sealed, Boss," Marco reported, handing over the leather folder. "The harbor commission has officially approved our expansion into Piers 1 through 10. The city is completely unified under the Duca banner."
Alessandro took the folder, looking out over the sprawling, peaceful estate where children’s laughter echoed softly from the East Wing. He thought about the complex webs of power, the millions of dollars in currency, and the thousands of armed men under his command. For years, he had believed that true power came from control, fear, and absolute vigilance against external enemies.

He had finally learned the ultimate truth: the most dangerous threats in life were never the enemies who stood before you with guns drawn. They were the traitors who smiled in your face while pouring poison into your cup.
And the only defense against a hidden betrayal was not an army of soldiers, but the pure, uncorrupted truth spoken by someone who loved you enough to tell you when something smelled wrong.
