Chapter 1 - The Sound of Glass Shattering-1-

The quiet suburban afternoon on Crestview Lane turned into an unimaginable nightmare in a matter of seconds.
Eight months pregnant with twins, Elena was home alone when her sister-in-law, Vanessa, forced her way inside, driven by a manic, desperate greed.
Demanding the six-digit authorization code to their unborn babies' $150,000 legacy trust fund, Vanessa didn't just threaten—she drove a closed fist straight into Elena’s swollen belly.
The sickening trauma ruptured Elena’s amniotic sac, sending her crashing to the hardwood floor in a pool of fluid and blood.
Instead of calling for help, Vanessa grabbed Elena by the hair and began dragging her across the room, screaming, "Give me the code or I’ll finish this!" The horror was only interrupted when Daniel—Elena’s husband, who had just returned early from an overseas business trip—walked through the front door to find his bleeding, pregnant wife pinned beneath his own sister.
In a frantic bid to manufacture a self-defense claim, Vanessa ripped the hallway security camera off the wall and crushed it beneath her high heel, convinced the only evidence was destroyed.
She was dead wrong. The fiber-optic line had already uploaded every second of the 4K recording to a secure offsite cloud server.
And when Daniel accessed the files, he uncovered an even darker truth: Vanessa hadn't just attacked his wife for trust money—she had spent months siphoning millions from the family logistics business, framing Daniel for corporate embezzlement, and orchestrating a calculated scheme to eliminate his wife and children before a federal audit exposed her crimes.

The silence of Crestview Lane was a deceptive curtain, woven from manicured lawns and the hum of distant sprinklers. Inside the foyer, that curtain had been torn away. The air smelled of metallic iron—the scent of blood—and the sharp, ozone tang of a destroyed security system. Elena lay on the cold hardwood, her breath coming in shallow, jagged gasps. Her hands were pressed desperately against her protruding belly, as if she could physically hold the two lives within her from slipping away.
Daniel stood frozen in the doorway, his suitcase slipping from his fingers to land with a dull thud. The man who had spent the last three months managing billion-dollar supply chains in Singapore now found his world distilled into a single, terrifying tableau: his wife, the woman he loved with every fiber of his being, splayed on the floor, and his own sister, Vanessa, standing over her with the cold, calculated posture of a predator.
Vanessa turned, her designer heels clicking against the wood. She wasn't trembling. She wasn't crying. Her face was a mask of icy composure, though a single strand of hair had come loose from her tight bun. "Daniel," she said, her voice smooth, almost melodic. "You’re home early. This… this wasn't how I planned for you to find us."
Elena let out a stifled cry, a sound of pure, unadulterated agony. "Daniel… the babies…"
Daniel’s vision tunneled. The rage that surged through him was a physical weight, cold and heavy. "What did you do?" he whispered, his voice vibrating with a dangerous, controlled frequency. He didn't look at the crushed remains of the security camera under Vanessa's foot. He didn't care about the property damage. He saw only the blood pooling beneath Elena’s silk maternity dress.
"She fell, Daniel," Vanessa lied, her voice dropping into a rehearsed tone of sisterly concern. "She was acting erratically. I tried to calm her down, and she just… she collapsed. You know how volatile she’s been since the pregnancy, the hormonal shifts—"
"Shut up," Daniel roared. He moved toward Elena, his eyes never leaving Vanessa. "If I find out you touched her, I will bury you. I don't care that we share blood. You are finished."
Vanessa straightened her blazer, her smirk reappearing. "You’re going to be a father, Daniel. You need to focus on her health, not on imaginary conspiracies. But while you’re busy playing the hero, you might want to consider how this will look to the authorities. A husband who has been out of the country for months, coming home to a 'domestic accident.' The police will look at the internal records of the family business first. They’ll look at the missing millions, Daniel. They’ll look at your digital signatures."
Daniel paused, his hand hovering over Elena’s shoulder. The accusation hit him like a physical blow. Millions missing? He had only just begun to suspect the books were being cooked, but he hadn't known it was this deep. He reached for his phone, his thumb hovering over the emergency dial, but Vanessa stepped forward, her eyes flashing with a terrifying, hollow light.
"Don't bother with the call, brother. I've already set the stage. The audit starts tomorrow morning. And with you being the CEO who signed off on those ledger entries… well, it’s going to be a very long, very dark prison sentence for you. Unless, of course, you hand me the access codes to the legacy fund right now. I’ll call the ambulance, I’ll tell them it was an unfortunate fall, and I’ll make sure the auditors find a very convenient 'scapegoat' in the accounting department. It won't be you."
Elena groaned again, her fingers digging into Daniel’s forearm. "Daniel… don't… listen… to her…"
He looked down at his wife, then at the woman who had been his sister his entire life. The realization settled in his chest, colder than the ice he had felt in Singapore. Vanessa wasn't just a disgruntled relative; she was the architect of his destruction. But she had made one fatal error. She thought she was the smartest person in the room because she had smashed a camera. She didn't know about the offsite cloud sync. She didn't know that every hateful, violent word she had just spoken was currently being uploaded to a server in a secure bunker in Iceland.
"Call the ambulance, Vanessa," Daniel said, his voice dropping into a terrifying calm. "Call them. Because if Elena or the babies don't make it, I won't need a lawyer to deal with you. I’ll make sure the world sees exactly who you are."
Vanessa laughed, a sharp, brittle sound. "You have no evidence, Daniel. You’re a failing executive with a dying wife. You’re already a ghost."
She turned to walk toward the kitchen, pulling out her phone. Daniel dropped to his knees, his hands trembling as he checked Elena’s pulse. The twins were still heartbeat-strong, a steady, rhythmic thrum against his palm. He looked at the shattered camera, then up toward the ceiling where the Wi-Fi router blinked with a steady, reassuring green light.
