Chapter 7 - THE ROOTS OF THE EMPIRE

The fallout within Kingsley Global Enterprises was swift, catastrophic, and meticulously engineered. By Monday noon, federal marshals and SEC investigators had seized Marcus Vance’s office assets, freezing every corporate vehicle, offshore trust, and private equity fund associated with his name. The boardroom at the downtown Manhattan skyscraper was locked down for emergency auditing. The executives who had silently watched Marcus consolidate power over the past three years suddenly found themselves scrambling to distance themselves from the disgraced CFO, terrified that Roberto’s legal steamroller would flatten them next.
Roberto sat at the head of the massive, dark-wood conference table on the sixty-fifth floor. The room was silent save for the hum of the climate control system and the nervous rustle of paper as the remaining board members reviewed the emergency restructuring documents.
"The transition of power is absolute," Roberto said, his voice carrying the calm, absolute authority of a man who owned the very ground they walked on. "Marcus Vance’s voting shares have been legally transferred to a protected, blind family trust under my daughter Sofía’s name. Effective immediately, I am assuming direct control of the executive financial committee."
A junior vice president—a man who had once eagerly sided with Marcus on budget allocations—cleared his throat nervously. "Sir, with all due respect, what about the Vanguard Holdings partnership? The European division was counting on that capital influx for the fourth-quarter expansion."
Roberto turned his dark, unblinking eyes toward the man. The vice president shrank back instantly, sweating under the collar.

"Vanguard Holdings doesn't exist anymore," Roberto stated flatly. "The shell company has been dissolved, its assets seized by federal receivers, and anyone connected to its illicit ledgering is currently answering questions in a grand jury room. We do not need foreign shell money to sustain Kingsley Global. We build on solid ground, or we do not build at all."
No one else spoke. The board members nodded in unison, their heads bowed slightly in submission. Roberto stood up, adjusting the cuffs of his tailored suit jacket, and walked out of the boardroom without looking back. The empire was secure, purged of its parasites, and anchored permanently where it belonged—to his bloodline.
