Chapter 6 - The Short-Circuit Injunction-6

Celeste Whitmore’s head snapped up. Her silver hair was perfectly styled, her expensive cashmere coat immaculate, but her sharp, aristocratic features twisted into an expression of pure, animalistic fury as she saw me standing under the emergency track lights.
"You..." Celeste hissed, her voice a cold, mechanical rasp that carried zero human empathy. "You pathetic, ungrateful little clerk. I told Daniel he should have broken your spirit three years ago! You think you can touch the Whitmore family name with a federal badge?"
"The Whitmore family name is an empty ledger, Celeste," I said, taking a slow, measured step forward, my gray eyes locking onto hers with a freezing, absolute finality. "Your son is currently in handcuffs on his own kitchen floor. Your daughter is sobbing into a police carpet. And your Nicosia wire transfer froze sixty seconds ago."
Celeste didn't panic. With a smooth, practiced movement, her right hand reached beneath the administrative desk console, emerging with a compact, short-barreled automatic carbine. She leveled the barrel straight at my chest before the strike team could even adjust their firing vectors.
"The Nicosia wire may be frozen, Clara," Celeste whispered, a cold, ruthless smile touching her thin lips. "But the master destruction script for this entire facility is linked to my thumbprint. If you take another step, I execute an immediate thermal runaway sequence, vaporizing every digital footprint of this server core and taking every agent in this room with it!"
Marcus did not lower his weapon. The tactical operators maintained their rock-steady posture, their red laser indicators painting bright targets across Celeste's chest.
"The foundation doesn't rely on your server core, Celeste," I said softly, my voice dropping into a low, clinical register. "And my grandfather’s estate isn't an asset on your ledger anymore."
With a sudden, violent heave, I didn't lunge for her weapon; I hurled a heavy steel demolition crowbar I had taken from the wall rack straight into the center of the high-voltage electrical transformer box mounted on the concrete pylon directly adjacent to the server racks.
CRASH-BOOM.

The heavy iron bar smashed through the protective fiberglass shielding, short-circuiting the main three-phase industrial power line running into the warehouse grid. A blinding, blue-white explosion of electrical arc fire erupted from the box, hissing violently as the water leaking through the ceiling vents flooded the exposed circuits.
The automatic carbine fired a wild, uncontrolled burst into the concrete ceiling as Celeste was thrown backward by the sheer concussive force of the blast, her weapon spinning off into the dark drainage trench below. The entire warehouse was plunged into a sudden, pitch-black twilight, leaving nothing but the vibrant neon-green status light on my personal diagnostic tablet flashing: CASCADE PURGE INTERRUPTED. SYSTEM DATA SECURED AT 99.2%.
