Chapter 4 - The Cold Intercept-4

"What the hell is this?!" Daniel roared over the audio receiver, his voice losing its controlled, superior frequency and cracking into a jagged whimper of primitive confusion. "My phone is locked! It says 'Federal Administrative Isolation Active'! Megan, check your banking app!"
"Mine is locked too!" Megan screamed, the sound of her purse dropping to the tile floor echoing through the speakers. "It says my line of credit has been revoked by order of the United States District Court! Daniel, what did she do?!"
Inside our tactical sedan, Marcus smiled—a cold, ruthless expression of absolute professional satisfaction. He picked up his secure radio handset.
"All units, this is Treasury Leader," Marcus commanded sharply. "Target has picked up the physical token and initiated the cryptographic trap. Move in and secure the perimeter."
Within five seconds, three unmarked black utility vans rounded the corner of our quiet suburban street, their tires screaming against the wet asphalt as they executed a coordinated box maneuver, completely blocking Daniel's truck and Megan's sports car in the driveway.
Fourteen heavily armed federal agents clad in navy tactical gear, their gold badges glinting beneath the gray winter light, spilled out of the vans. They moved with clinical, military precision, establishing an airtight perimeter around the house while the lead strike team ascended the front porch steps with a heavy hydraulic breaching ram.
RAM-CRASH.
The front door of our Arlington home was shattered inward with a violent, concussive roar that tore the frame straight from the masonry.

"Federal agents! Federal search warrant!" the lead strike operator bellowed, his baritone booming through the plaster ceilings. "Daniel Whitmore, Megan Whitmore, put your hands on your heads and drop to your knees immediately!"
Over the audio feed, we heard Megan let out a sharp, guttural shriek of absolute terror as tactical boots thundered across the hardwood floorboards, driving both of them down against the cold tile where my coffee-stained blouse still lay in the laundry basket.
