Chapter 3 - The Unseen Lenses-3
The silence in the bare bedroom was suffocating. Brandon’s mouth opened, but no sound came out. His hands began to tremble at his sides.
"Why would you do that?" Clara continued, her eyes never leaving his face. "At first, I thought you were just a selfish, lazy husband who wanted me too tired to complain about your lack of effort. But during these four days while you were enjoying your 'fishing trip,' I hired a professional forensic counter-surveillance team to sweep this house from top to bottom."
Agent Miller reached into his briefcase and pulled out a heavy plastic evidence bag. Inside were six tiny, high-definition pinhole camera lenses attached to micro-transponders.
"We found six hidden cameras, Brandon," Clara said smoothly. "One in the living room, one in the kitchen, two in the nursery, and two in our bedroom. All of them were live-streaming a encrypted feed to an external server registered under a private consultancy firm called Apex Risk Management."
"Clara, listen to me—" Brandon stammered, taking a panicked step forward, but Agent Vance immediately stood up, his tall frame blocking Brandon’s path.
"Stay where you are, Mr. Vance," Agent Vance warned in a flat, unyielding tone.
"You weren't just watching me struggle, Brandon," Clara said, leaning forward across the table. "You were building a library of footage. You were recording every moment I cried from exhaustion, every time I stumbled while holding a bottle, every time I sat on the nursery floor weeping because I thought I was failing as a mother. You were gathering evidence to prove in a family court that I was mentally unstable, emotionally unfit, and a danger to my own children."

Brandon’s eyes darted toward the window. Outside, through the glass, he could see the dark silhouettes of two unmarked black SUVs idling near the curb.
"Why go through all that trouble?" Clara asked rhetorically, her voice chillingly quiet. "Why spend six months drugging your wife and filming her distress? Because my father’s estate trust contained a very specific clause."
