Chapter 12 - The Circle Closes-12

Three years later.

The summer sun warmed the pristine lawns of the Whitmore Estate in Lake Oswego.

Four-year-old Maya was running through the grass, laughing hysterically as she played tag with Mrs. Rivera’s grandchildren. Her bright blue eyes sparkled with joy, her health robust, her life surrounded by love, security, and abundance.

I sat on the shaded patio, dressed in comfortable linen clothes, reviewing the annual report for The Whitmore Foundation.

Over the last three years, our foundation had provided full housing, medical care, and legal defense to over five hundred female service members across the country, ensuring that no pregnant officer or soldier would ever be left helpless or abandoned.

Arthur Pendelton walked onto the patio, carrying a light leather portfolio.

"Good afternoon, General," Pendelton smiled, setting a cold glass of lemonade on my table.

"Good afternoon, Arthur," I replied. "What do you have for me today?"

"Just the final legal dissolution files for the old estate properties," Pendelton said. "And an update from the state Department of Corrections regarding Victoria Vance."

"How is she?" I asked softly.

"She completed her community service sentence six months ago," Pendelton reported. "She has relocated to Texas, working as an administrative receptionist for a small logistics firm under her mother's maiden name. She has maintained a completely clean record."

"Good," I nodded. "I hope she builds a real life."

"And Mark Vance?" Pendelton asked carefully.

I looked out over the lawn at Maya playing near the flower gardens.

"Mark made his choices, Arthur," I said quietly. "He lives with the consequences every single day. I don't need updates on him anymore."

Pendelton offered a warm, respectful nod, closing his portfolio. "Understood, General."
