Chapter 12 - The Fall of the Senator-12

"It's a lie! It's a deepfake! It's an AI manipulation!" Senator Vance screamed hysterically, lunging toward the podium to pull the USB drive out of the console.
I grabbed his wrist with an iron grip, twisting his arm back, pinning him face-down against the wooden podium in front of fifty national news cameras.
"You killed my son, Charles," I growled into his ear, every word dripping with cold venom. "You killed your own blood for offshore bank accounts."
Agent Sarah Miller stepped forward, pulled Senator Vance’s arms behind his back, and snapped heavy steel handcuffs around his wrists.
"Charles Vance," Agent Miller announced loudly, her voice amplified by the microphone. "You are under arrest for First-Degree Murder, High Treason, Wire Fraud, and Conspiracy to Commit Arms Trafficking."
Beatrice tried to run toward the side emergency exit, but two female federal agents intercepted her, blocking her path and placing her in handcuffs as she wept and screamed hysterically: "I DIDN'T KNOW! I DIDN'T KNOW HE WAS GOING TO KILL LIAM! I ONLY WANTED THE SHARES!"
"You knew enough, Aunt Beatrice," Elena’s voice rang out, clear and powerful across the stage.
Elena stepped up to her, looking down at the broken, diamond-clad woman who had tried to throw her away at JFK Airport two days ago.
"You told me I didn't understand what the Sterling name meant," Elena said softly, her eyes filled with absolute conviction. "The Sterling name doesn't belong to your greed, your titles, or your lies. It belongs to the man who gave his life for his country, and to the boy who carries his blood."
Beatrice looked at Elena, her eyes wide with overwhelming shame and defeat, unable to speak a single word as she was led away in handcuffs down the center carpet in front of every news camera in the city.
At that moment, the side doors of the stage swung open.
Four FBI agents walked in, escorting a battered, terrified Captain Marcus Cole and my nephew Julian, both locked in heavy leg irons and handcuffs, having been intercepted by federal marshals at a private airfield in New Jersey twenty minutes prior.
As Julian passed me, he fell to his knees on the stage, crying hysterically: "UNCLE RAYMOND! PLEASE! HE MADE ME DO IT! CHARLES MADE ME DO IT!"
I didn't even look at him. I gave a slight nod to the agents, who dragged him away into the waiting police vans outside.
The ballroom was silent now, the guests staring up at the stage in complete awe and shock.

I picked up four-year-old Leo into my arms, stood beside Elena at the center of the stage, and looked out at the nation watching us.
"The truth has finally come home," I said softly into the microphone. "And it is never leaving again."
