Chapter 11 - The Stage of Truth-11

I walked slowly down the center red carpet of the ballroom, every eye in high society fixed upon us.

Elena didn't look down. She didn't shiver. She walked with the poise of a queen, holding her son’s hand, radiating an unassailable strength that filled the entire room.

I stepped up to the main stage.

The private security team hired by Senator Vance tried to step forward to block my path, but six plainclothes FBI tactical agents, led by Agent Sarah Miller, stepped out from the crowd, flashing federal badges and pressing their weapons against the guards' sides, quietly disarming them in seconds.

The room fell into a terrifying, suffocating silence.

I walked up to the podium, pushed Senator Vance aside with a firm forearm, and took control of the microphone.

"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen," my voice boomed through the high-end sound system, echoing off the crystal chandeliers.

"Raymond!" Senator Vance hissed, his face pale as chalk, trying to maintain his political composure for the camera crews in the back. "What is the meaning of this interruption?! This is a private corporate gala!"

"Tonight," I continued, completely ignoring him and looking directly into the primary news cameras broadcasting live across the nation, "you were promised a speech by Senator Charles Vance about the future of American leadership."

I pulled a small black USB drive from my pocket and plugged it directly into the master media console embedded in the podium.

"Instead," I declared, "you are going to learn the truth about why my son, Major Liam Sterling, was murdered eighteen months ago."

Beatrice let out a high-pitched, hysterical shriek: "SECURITY! TURN OFF THE POWER! TURN OFF THE SCREENS!"

"No one is turning off anything, Beatrice," Agent Miller spoke loudly, stepping onto the stage with ten armed federal marshals, securing every exit in the ballroom.

The massive forty-foot HD projection screens behind the stage flickered, then illuminated.

Audio recordings began to play over the ballroom speakers—clear, pristine recordings of Senator Charles Vance and Captain Marcus Cole discussing shipping manifests, bribe allocations, and the logistics of organizing the "accidental" parachute failure of Major Liam Sterling.

“Make sure the reserve rig on Sterling’s pack is tampered with before the 22:00 hour jump,” Senator Vance’s unmistakable voice echoed clearly through the room. “He’s my nephew, but he’s become a liability. He has the Zurich account numbers. He doesn't leave Fort Bragg alive.”

The ballroom erupted into sheer, wild chaos.

Women screamed. Corporate directors dropped their drinks. Journalists fell over each other rushing to film the screens.

Senator Vance stumbled backward against the wall, his face completely drained of blood, staring at the screen in absolute horror as five years of treason, murder, and corruption were laid bare before the most powerful people in the country.
