Chapter 14 - The Fall of the Empire-14

Thomas Vance let out a soft, mocking laugh. "Over? My dear girl, you are in my house. My security detail controls this entire property. You have a hard drive full of old corporate logs that my lawyers will tie up in court for the next thirty years. You have nothing."
"I don't just have logs, Thomas," I said, opening my bag and pulling out Clara’s high-grade laptop, setting it on the glass coffee table between us.
The laptop screen was bright, displaying a real-time, green-and-white financial terminal interface showing a live transfer progress bar: ACCOUNT DRAIN IN PROGRESS — CAYMAN TRUST #8849-V.
Thomas Vance’s eyes darted to the screen. The calm, arrogant composure he had maintained for decades shattered in a single microsecond.
"What... what is that?" Thomas gasped, stepping toward the table, his hands trembling.
"It's Julian’s master key," I said, my voice echoing cold and clear in the grand room. "Your sister Clara just executed the hard-wire override from her cottage twenty minutes ago. As we speak, seventy-two million dollars in illegal offshore holdings—the money you used to pay off federal judges, EPA auditors, and state prosecutors—is being transferred directly into the Federal Treasury’s Asset Forfeiture Fund."
"NO!" Thomas screamed, slamming his fists onto the table, his face turning a terrifying, mottled purple. "CANCEL IT! CANCEL THE TRANSFER!"
"I can't cancel it," I smiled—a cold, beautiful smile. "And neither can you. Because along with the money transfer, an automated, un-hackable data package containing thirty years of encrypted emails, plant logs, and murder cover-up records was transmitted directly to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Director in Washington D.C. ten minutes ago."
Outside the grand stained-glass windows of the mansion, the distant, wailing scream of dozens of sirens cut through the rainy night.
Red and blue emergency lights began flashing through the trees down the long driveway, illuminating the dark estate in a chaotic, rhythmic pulse.
Thomas Vance staggered back, clutching his chest, his eyes wide with absolute, panic-stricken disbelief. He looked at the window, then at the laptop screen where the progress bar hit 100% COMPLETE, and finally at my ten-year-old son, who stood quietly by my side, watching his grandfather’s downfall with those sharp, violet-blue eyes.
"Marcus!" Thomas roared, turning to his head security guard in a frenzy. "GET THE CAR! GET ME TO THE AIRPORT!"
Marcus didn't move.
The tall security guard slowly unbuckled his holster, taking two steps back into the hallway, raising his hands in the air as heavy boots began hammering up the marble front steps outside.
The massive front doors were kicked open with a thunderclap sound!
"FEDERAL AGENTS! DON'T MOVE! HANDS IN THE AIR!" dozens of armed FBI tactical officers flooded into the grand foyer, their assault rifles drawn, laser sights sweeping across the room.
Thomas Vance fell to his knees on his expensive Persian rug, his hands shaking as an agent forced his arms behind his back, snapping heavy steel handcuffs around his wrists.
As he was dragged to his feet, Thomas looked at me one last time—his eyes filled with a pathetic, desperate mixture of hatred and defeat.

"You destroyed everything..." Thomas choked out.
"No, Thomas," I said, holding my son’s hand tight. "You destroyed yourself. I just delivered the bill."
