Chapter 15 - THE CROWN OF UNWAVERING TRUTH

-15-

Five years after the restructuring of Harrison Technologies, the global landscape had been permanently transformed. Wars were no longer fought over land and oil, but prevented through quantum-encrypted diplomacy; poverty was rapidly receding in regions empowered by free educational networks; and corporate greed was kept firmly in check by the relentless vigilance ofHarrison Technologies’ global auditing division.

On a bright, crisp morning in early October, I sat in my private 80th-floor boardroom in Manhattan, reviewing the preliminary global happiness and stability index reports generated by our AI monitoring systems.

The numbers were staggering. Human progress had accelerated at a rate unprecedented in recorded history.

The heavy oak doors of the boardroom clicked open.

My father stepped inside, walking with the measured, steady grace of a man who had successfully passed the torch to the most capable hands possible. He didn't sit down; he walked over to the floor-to-ceiling glass windows, looking out at the glittering Manhattan skyline bathed in autumn sunlight.

"You know, Evangeline," my father said quietly, not turning around. "Ten years ago, people thought the Harrison name was just about silicon chips and defense contracts. Today, they associate it with survival, education, and absolute justice."

I closed the digital dossier on my desk, leaning back in my executive leather chair.

"We didn't just build a better business, Dad," I said, my voice carrying a quiet, unshakeable strength. "We built a better world. And we made sure that anyone who tries to destroy it knows exactly what price they'll pay."

My father turned, offering a warm, proud smile. "And to think... it all started with a forty-dollar yellow dress."

I laughed—a bright, genuine sound that echoed off the polished boardroom walls.

"The dress was a terrible investment," I joked, standing up smoothly and walking over to stand beside him at the window. "It tore way too easily. But the lesson? That was priceless."

We stood together, looking out at the city below, watching the endless stream of traffic, the towering skyscrapers, and the bright, limitless horizon stretching out into the autumn sky.

I was no longer searching for a place to fit in. I no longer needed to hide my identity or test a man’s loyalty with cheap clothes. I was Evangeline Harrison. The architect of the future, the guardian of the weak, and the undisputed queen of my own destiny.

The world could finally spin however it wanted. As long as I was holding the reins, it was going to spin in the right direction.
