Chapter 15 - THE VANCE LEGACY

-15-
Ten years later.
The Grand Regent Hotel in Chicago remained the crown jewel of the international hospitality landscape—a towering monument to luxury, discretion, and the unyielding application of the Vance Standard.
On a bright, crisp autumn morning, a sleek, black town car pulled up to the grand marble entrance of the hotel. The driver hopped out, opening the rear door with practiced reverence.
Stepping out onto the pavement was not a scruffy, exhausted widower wearing a faded leather jacket, but a young woman of sixteen, wearing a sharp navy blazer, carrying a leather portfolio in one hand, and holding a smartphone displaying her Harvard University acceptance letter.
Lily Vance stood on the sidewalk, looking up at the magnificent limestone facade of the hotel where her father had once been turned away by a pair of arrogant receptionists.
Stepping out right behind her was Ethan Vance, his hair lightly streaked with silver at the temples, wearing a tailored charcoal suit that commanded the street without a single word of introduction.
Lupita, now the Vice President of Guest Relations for the entire Midwest division, stood waiting near the revolving doors. She rushed down the marble steps, her face lighting up with absolute joy as she opened her arms to embrace the young woman Lily had become.
"Look at you! Harvard! I still remember when you used to carry that stuffed rabbit everywhere you went!" Lupita beamed, holding Lily at arm's length with pride.
"Thank you, Lupita. I couldn't have done it without your chocolate chip cookies keeping me grounded during high school finals," Lily laughed, her dark eyes shining with the exact same brilliant, stubborn resilience as her father's.
Ethan walked up beside them, placing a warm, proud hand on his daughter’s shoulder. He looked past them, into the grand lobby where guests walked in absolute comfort, treated with the dignity and respect that every human being deserved.
"Ready to check into Suite 904, CEO-in-training?" Ethan asked softly, a gentle, affectionate smile touching his lips.
Lily smiled, adjusting her leather portfolio. "Always, Daddy. Always."

As they walked through the revolving doors together, stepping into the warm, glittering embrace of the lobby, Ethan looked back one last time at the city street. The corporate raiders were gone, the enemies were buried, and the empire was secure.
He had built his house on rock. And no storm on earth could ever shake it again.
