Chapter 5 - The Fire Ax Override-5

"Step away from the console, Sienna!" Special Agent Harris bellowed through her tactical megaphone, her service weapon raised and rock-steady, her voice a hard baritone of absolute federal authority that echoed off the brushed steel server racks. "The building is fully isolated! Your mother’s corporate law firm in New York has just been locked down under a federal asset seizure warrant! There is no private security detail coming to save you, and there is no flight to Zurich waiting at the airport!"
Sienna Voss didn't jump. She didn't look up from the diagnostic monitors immediately. She entered a final alphanumeric passphrase into the terminal keypad, before she spun her executive leather chair around slowly to face the shattered door frame. Her face was a flawless, unblemished mask of cold, beautiful serenity, not a single strand of her black hair out of place despite the frantic, subterranean siege playing out around her.
"You always did think you were the only forensic genius in this city, Claire," Sienna’s voice purred through the external wall speaker system, her cadence smooth, crisp, and entirely unbothered. "But you forgot the most basic rule of capital acquisitions: never trust a husband who can be bought for the price of a few staged digital photographs and a pretty face on a penthouse balcony. The eighty-five million dollars moving to Cyprus isn't a theft, darling. It’s a contract termination fee. For two years, I played the role of Mark’s perfect, polished mistress. I managed his tiny executive ego, I kept him entirely blind to his own mother's trust restrictions, and I ensured that he would deliver your daughter's security tokens straight into my hand at midnight."
"He’s a pathetic, weak fool, Sienna," I said, walking slowly down the center aisle of the vault room, my hand gripping the heavy iron handle of my steel crowbar. I stopped just three feet from her position, looking down into her beautiful, cold face with a profound, clinical detachment. "But the data core you're trying to burn... it doesn't rely on Mark’s signature tokens. It requires my biometric palm signature to validate the final execution. The progress bar you're watching... it’s a dummy data loop written by my father twenty years ago to trap network predators."
Sienna’s face drained of color so rapidly it looked as though she had been struck by an invisible fist. She lunged toward her laptop terminal, her red nails clawing frantically at the keys to check the external network monitors. A second later, the screen flashed an angry, blinking neon red overlay: CARRIER SIGNAL LOST. DIRECTORY FILE CANCELLED. DETONATION VECTOR INITIALIZED.
"If I don't get my money, nobody leaves this sub-level alive!" she screamed, her hand snapping down toward a secondary electronic short-circuit switch mounted beneath the desk frame.
With a raw, desperate roar of pure maternal fury, I didn't try to tackle her; I swung the heavy steel crowbar in a brutal, horizontal arc, smashing it directly into the center of the massive, high-voltage electrical transformer box mounted on the concrete pylon directly adjacent to the server racks.

CRASH-BOOM.
The iron casing disintegrated in a brilliant explosion of high-voltage electrical arc fire that hissed violently as the standing condensation water on the floorboards flooded the exposed circuits. The entire warehouse block was plunged into a sudden, pitch-black twilight, the high-density server mainframes grinding to a dead halt as the main circuit breakers tripped, leaving nothing but the vibrant neon-blue text overlay of the federal grand jury network rendering across my phone screen.
