The pressure behind my eyes was blinding, a sudden, white-hot surge of pure primal adrenaline ripping through my veins until the leather grip of my travel briefcase split under the force of my clenching knuckles. I stood paralyzed inside the tracking corridor, watching the security monitor paint my daughters' terror in cold blue pixels.
Patricia hadn't just been feeding my paranoia with minor comments about missing bracelets or household management deficits. She and Elena were operational liquidators, deep-system corporate predators who had been placed inside my home by a predatory land-banking conglomerate based out of Nicosia, Cyprus.
I pulled my personal mobile device from my pocket, bypassing the standard commercial wireless networks to log straight into an unmappable forensic server network.
"Marcus," I spoke into my hands-free receiver, my voice dropping into a low, gravelly baritone that carried the absolute finality of a judicial executioner's axe. "The contingency trigger is active. Execute the non-parole asset liquidation protocol on the Vanguard Group accounts immediately. Patricia and Elena have just validated the aggravated felony parameters inside the living room sector."
