Part 4: The New Matriarch

The heavy double doors of the ballroom were thrown open. A specialized task force of federal agents and forensic accountants marched into the room, their boots clicking sharply against the polished marble. The lead investigator walked past the cowering elite of the city, stepping directly up to the balcony.

"Victoria Sterling?" the investigator asked, unfolding a federally issued warrant. "You are under arrest for racketeering, systematic tax fraud, grand embezzlement, and obstruction of justice."

Victoria didn't fight.

She didn't scream. As the steel handcuffs clicked around her manicured wrists, she looked at Elena with a gaze full of pure, concentrated venom.

"You destroyed a legacy that took generations to build. You think you've won, but you're left with nothing but a broken family."

Elena walked forward, standing beside Julian, her hand resting protectively over her stomach. She looked out over the glittering, ruined ballroom, then back to the fallen queen.

As Victoria was led out of the gala in handcuffs, surrounded by the flashing cameras of the very press crews she had invited to document her triumph, the guests began to flee the estate like rats from a sinking ship...
