Chapter 13 - The Truth Unfolded-13-

I was walking home from the school one crisp autumn evening when I saw a figure standing near my cottage, a dark silhouette against the setting sun.

It was Gabriel.

He looked different—softer, older, and entirely at peace. He wasn't the man of the Syndicate, the man of the penthouse, or the man of the harbor. He was just a man.

He didn't approach me. He stood there, waiting for me to acknowledge him.

"I'm leaving," he said, his voice calm. "I've sold the holdings, liquidated the assets, and ensured the foundation is focused on ethical research. I’m going away."

"Where?" I asked.

"To a place where the name Varrick doesn't mean anything," he said. "To be a person."

I looked at him, seeing the man he might have been if the shadows hadn't been his inheritance.

"I hope you find it," I said.

"I think I already have," he replied, looking at me with a soft, genuine smile. "I found the only truth that ever mattered."

He turned and walked away, disappearing into the twilight, the last remnant of the Syndicate finally fading into the dark.

I walked into my home, locked the door, and took a deep breath.

The world was finally, truly quiet.

And for the first time, I knew the silence wasn't a performance.

It was just the truth.

I sat in my chair, closed my eyes, and listened to the sound of the wind.

It was the most beautiful thing I had ever heard.

The end.

I lived, I fought, and I chose.

And I am home.
