Chapter 3 - The Forensic Injunction-3

The high-performance luxury humvee my family's firm had deployed for our security detail swam through the thickening sheets of the midwestern blizzard, its heavy tires screaming against the frozen asphalt as we pulled into the concrete parking structure of the Federal Building in downtown Chicago.
The time was 2:14 p.m. We had precisely forty-six minutes before the financial markets closed their clearing sessions, executing the automatic verification script that would permanently lock the Harrington Energy asset claims if the original patent logs weren't delivered to the grand jury.
Victor met me at the elevator threshold, his heavy trench coat open to reveal his gold federal compliance badge glinting beneath the corridor track lamps. He thrust a thick manila folder directly into my hands—the master compliance enforcement orders finalized by the circuit court clerk thirty minutes ago.
"The board of directors at Harrington Energy is currently entering a state of absolute, panic-driven collapse, Emma," Victor said, his boots clicking a rapid, lethal rhythm against the polished granite floorboards as we moved toward the secure consultation vault. "Blake’s mother, Celeste, tried to execute a multi-million-dollar wire transfer to their Cyprus holding accounts at noon to clear their liabilities before the grand jury signed the indictments. But our team intercepted the transmission at ninety-nine point eight percent."
"The eighty-five million dollars is frozen, Victor?" I asked, my gray eyes narrowing as I scanned the technical code tracks displayed on his tablet.
"Permanently locked inside an extra-jurisdictional federal holding account registered to your private LLC under the National Security Fraud Acts," Victor confirmed, a sharp, victorious satisfaction warming his baritone tone. "And the prenuptial agreement Blake forced you to sign... Clause Seven explicitly states that if a primary corporate trustee commits an administrative fraud or systematic concealment of assets that directly threatens the security of a bloodline heir... the entire controlling share block of the company instantly reverts to the mother of those heirs. Unconditionally."

The elevator dinged with a sharp, clinical tone that resonated through the concrete bunker walls. Forty-second floor. Federal Receivership Division.
The doors slid open to reveal Blake standing in the center of the white-lit lobby lounge, flanked by four senior defense attorneys from Mercer, Vale & Knox whose faces were completely bloodless beneath the harsh fluorescent lamps. He had stripped off his tailored Brioni suit jacket, his white dress shirt soaked to the skin with sweat, his eyes wide, unfocused, and burning with a terrifying, manic desperation.
