Chapter 14 - The UBS Private Banking Vault

-14-

The UBS Private Banking headquarters in central Zurich was a fortress of granite, glass, and absolute discretion. The grand marble lobby, usually echoing with the hushed whispers of international elites and sovereign wealth managers, was dead silent when our small party strode through the revolving glass doors.

Master Keller led the way, flashing his official credentials to the armed security guards stationed at the private elevator bank. They didn't hesitate for a second; they stepped aside, unlocking the private subterranean vault level with a digital keycard.

The elevator descended swiftly, the digital floor numbers ticking downward into the subterranean depths of the vault.

When the doors slid open, we stepped into a sprawling, subterranean boardroom lined with polished cherry wood and bulletproof glass partitions.

Standing near the center of the room, surrounded by three frantic bank compliance officers and two private security guards, was Ethan. His hair was slightly disheveled, his tie pulled loose, and the immaculate billionaire composure he had worn for a decade had completely evaporated. He was shouting in broken, desperate German, demanding immediate access to accounts that were now legally locked under international asset-freezing protocols.

—You don't understand! Ethan yelled, slamming his hand down onto the mahogany consultation desk. —I am the majority voting shareholder of Cole Industries! Those funds are legally tied to my—

—Your voting rights were revoked at 3:15 PM Eastern Standard Time, a cool, familiar voice cut sharply across the room.

Ethan froze mid-sentence.

He snapped his head around, his eyes locking onto me as I stepped out of the private elevator, flanked by Marcus, Clara, and Master Keller. The color drained entirely from his face, leaving him looking like a ghost standing under fluorescent lights.

—Amelia... he whispered, his voice cracking into a pathetic, breathless wheeze. —How... how did you get here? You were supposed to be in New York!

—Did you really think a private jet and a twelve-hour head start would be enough to outrun a lie that took twelve years to construct, Ethan? I asked, walking slowly across the polished marble floor until I stood just a few feet away from him.

The compliance officers stepped back respectfully, recognizing Master Keller’s insignia and the federal injunction documents he held in his hand.

Ethan looked around the room wildly, realizing with absolute, crushing certainty that every door was locked, every escape route was sealed, and every penny he had stolen, hoarded, and manipulated was permanently frozen beyond his reach.

—It’s over, Ethan, I said softly, looking up into his wide, panicked eyes with a gaze completely devoid of hatred or anger—only the absolute peace of a chapter finally closed. —You wanted the world. And now, you have nothing.
