Chapter 15 - THE DAWN OF THE ROSSI DYNASTY

-15-
Spring arrived in the Northern hills with a violent, beautiful explosion of life, washing away the bitter memory of the winter siege and painting the sprawling grounds of the Rossi estate in vibrant shades of green and gold.
Inside the grand mansion, the air no longer smelled of mold, fear, or hidden secrets. The smart-home system had been completely rebuilt from the ground up by Beatrice—now officially installed as the Chief Technology Officer of Rossi Global Enterprises—ensuring that every digital lock, camera, and intercom served as a shield rather than a weapon.
In the sunroom on the south wing, little Lily sat at a low wooden table, her tongue poking out in intense concentration as she carefully glued pink glitter onto a handmade card. Standing beside her, wearing a soft pastel cardigan, Beatrice leaned down to help her secure a stubborn bow.
"There you go, sweetheart. Perfect," Beatrice smiled, brushing a stray curl from Lily’s forehead.
"Do you think Daddy will like it?" Lily asked, holding up the glittering masterpiece. "I made it extra sparkly because he said the sun is back!"
"Your daddy is going to love it more than anything in the world," a voice answered from the doorway.
Lily spun around with a squeal of pure joy and sprinted across the room, throwing her arms around Leo’s legs as he walked in. Leo scooped her up effortlessly, burying his face in her dark curls and inhaling the sweet scent of strawberry shampoo.
"Careful, bug, or you're going to get glitter all over my best suit," Leo teased, though his eyes were shining with a profound, unshakeable warmth.
"I wanted it to be shiny!" Lily declared, wrapping her arms tightly around his neck.
Leo carried her over to the armchair, sitting down with his daughter safely settled on his lap. Standing near the French doors leading out to the garden was Thomas Sterling, holding a thick leather portfolio under his arm.
"The federal prosecutors have officially sealed the indictment files," Sterling announced, walking over to hand a single document to Leo. "Victoria accepted a plea deal this morning—twenty-five years without parole in exchange for testifying against the remaining offshore shell networks. Marcus Vance received thirty. And Marco... well, Marco is currently residing in a high-security federal medical facility in the Colorado Rockies, where his 'master plans' are limited to choosing between vanilla and chocolate pudding."
Leo took the paper, glanced over it briefly, and tossed it onto the coffee table. "And the foundation?"
"Fully restored," Sterling smiled. "The philanthropic funds have been returned to their original accounts, and the board of directors has unanimously ratified your new corporate charter. Rossi Global Enterprises is officially clean. Not a single hidden wire, not a single compromised asset."
"Good," Leo nodded. He looked down at Lily, who was busy trying to balance her glittery card on his knee. "Then I suppose it's time to make a public statement."
"A press conference?" Sterling raised an eyebrow, surprised. "Leo, the press has been hounding us for weeks about the federal raids and the estate lockdown. If you step in front of the cameras now, they're going to tear you apart with questions about the past."
"Let them ask," Leo said, standing up and setting Lily gently back on her feet. He walked over to the French doors, pushing them open to let the warm spring breeze flood into the sunroom. "For fifty years, the Rossi family survived by hiding in the dark, building walls, and burying our mistakes. We thought power meant control. We thought strength meant silence."
He turned back to look at Sterling and Beatrice, his expression calm, clear, and absolute.

"That ends today," Leo said. "We aren't hiding anymore. The doors are open. The house belongs to the light."
Outside in the garden, the golden sunlight caught the towering iron gates of the estate—gates that now stood wide open, welcoming the world in, no longer guarding a prison, but protecting a home.
