Chapter 4 - The Master Database Purge-4

"This is an administrative forgery!" Madison shrieked, her voice cracking into a high-pitched, desperate wail of pure social panic as she lunged toward the marshals, her french-tipped nails clawing frantically at the air. "Emily! You sick, jealous bitch! You’re doing this because you hate that Dad bought me the yacht! You’re using your little military cops to steal my birthday party!"
"The yacht is moving to the federal recovery yard in San Pedro within the hour, Madison," I said, looking her dead in the eye, my hands steady on the crutch handles. "And the signature on that asset disclaimer wasn't a metaphor. You spent two years sleeping through your university classes while Jake was working twelve-hour shifts at the garage to buy his own future. You thought our grandfather's tools were just pieces of rubber and steel that could be pawned for a bottle of champagne. But those tools just bought the data disks that are currently dismantling your life from the root."
My father fell heavily back into his leather office chair, his face completely bloodless, his breathing short and ragged as he looked at the laptop terminal monitor on his desk. The progress bar for the master database wipe he had quietly initiated through his Nicosia proxies ten minutes ago had ground to a sudden, dead stop. The screen flashed an angry, blinking crimson text overlay: SYSTEM FAULT. ADMINISTRATIVE ISOLATION ACTIVE. CRITICAL EVIDENCE BLOCKED UNDER SOVEREIGN MARITIME DIRECTIVE.
"Arthur Vance... he’s the one who found the pipeline," Richard whispered, his voice losing its authoritative baritone, cracking into a jagged, pathetic tremor of pure defeat. He looked up at me, his blue eyes wide with a sudden, primal terror. "Emily... please... listen to me. Your mother and I... we only did it to protect the company's integrity during the merger renewals. If Blackwood Global collapses into a federal receivership today, our family name will be wiped from the financial world forever. You’ll be the trustee of an empty shell box!"
May you like
"The company isn't entering a receivership, Richard," Mr. Arthur Vance said, stepping through the doorway from the library block, his fingers scrolling through a series of newly validated registration documents on his tablet interface. "The corporate board of Blackwood Global met in an emergency session forty-five minutes ago. Under Clause Twelve of your father-in-law's original trust charter, the moment a primary trustee is booked for corporate fraud against the bloodline, the executive control of the firm automatically transfers to the oldest military heir. Emily is the new Chief Executive Officer of Blackwood Global, sir. Your administrative clearance keys were deactivated at noon."
Mother’s champagne glass slipped from her frozen fingers, the crystal shattering into a thousand tiny shards against the white marble tiles. The sparkling wine puddled around her designer shoes, soaking into the warning sheets the marshals had scattered across the floorboards. Her social empire, her Bel-Air status, the perfect corporate facade she had spent twenty-five years engineering... it had dissolved into the gray mud of a rainy afternoon in the span of five minutes.
