Chapter 3 - The Hidden Ledger-3

The true architecture of the DeLuca family nightmare unmasked itself inside my mind with a violent, freezing clarity that turned my blood to pure ice. Alexander hadn't suffered a routine mechanical steering failure on the road from San Francisco. His car had been systematically sabotaged from the root.
His mother needed him permanently immobilized or declared mentally incompetent before his twenty-first birthday to trigger an automatic foreclosure clause inside the family trust charter—a clause that would instantly transfer the controlling fifty-one percent voting block of the entire northeast logistics network straight into her Nicosia pipeline if the primary male heir was logged as a permanent operational liability.
"She built the cage, Maria," Alexander gasped, his fingers tightening around my wrist with a sudden, primitive strength that grounded my panic. "And every time the private clinic doctors arrived at this mansion to update my diagnostic scans, they weren't checking my nerve conductivity to help me walk. They were monitoring the localized toxin levels inside my weekly IV fluids to ensure the muscular atrophy remained absolute. Martin Pierce has been running the data injection script straight out of the carriage house server core."

I stood up slowly to my full height, my gray eyes burning with a dangerous, unquenchable fire of pure judicial resolve. The seventeen-year-old maid who had entered this palace with a plastic grocery bag full of clothes and a heart full of shame vanished completely beneath the newly found protective purpose of a sovereign guardian.
"They won't finish the cascade, Alexander," I whispered, my voice flat, unyielding, and completely clear of any domestic submission. "My older brother, Victor—who handles forensic systems audits for the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Public Corruption Division—is arriving in Los Angeles tomorrow morning. We’re going to drag their entire network core out into the light."
