Part 12: The Boston Vault Raid

By 8:30 a.m. the following morning, the administrative offices of Vance & Associates in Boston were completely overrun.

Four plainclothes compliance officers from the financial crimes division stood rigidly inside the firm's private server suite.

Arthur Vance sat frozen behind his mahogany desk, his gold pen hovering over a stack of unredacted estate transfer papers.

Beside him, two junior partners were frantically attempting to delete local backup drives before the receivers could mirror the data.

"This is an absolute violation of attorney-client privilege, Elias!" Vance shouted, his face turning a deep, angry crimson.

"The files regarding the Torres asset allocation are shielded by a permanent corporate confidentiality covenant!"

"The covenant was nullified by a federal grand jury indictment at midnight, Counselor," I stated, entering the room.

I stood perfectly tall, flanked by Detective Ruiz and three senior data forensic analysts from the state treasury department.

Naomi Pierce connected her secure field terminal to the room’s main display, illuminating forty pages of hidden ledger logs.

The monitors revealed that Vance hadn't just been providing legitimate legal counsel to Brenda’s collapsing corporate network.

He was a primary shareholder in the shell company that had manufactured the fraudulent two point eight million dollar debt block.

"The signature keys you used to validate the collection order were cloned from Valeria’s old medical records," Naomi announced.

The compliance investigators immediately began sealing the server frames, permanently terminating Vance's regional legal license.
